I will say come prepared to get wet, prepared to stay over night, and for emergency situations.

Will be back!

Most stunning wilderness sight I've seen in GA. Did the hike with my wife and 4 children. The hike was challenging with 40lbs of toddler on my back, but the result was incredible. It took us about 2.5 hours each way at a moderate pace. Our minivan did not appreciate the road to approach the trailhead. We had to drive quite slowly to get in and out.

My son and I spent the day going up river to get to the falls and enjoy each second of it.

Nice, long quiet hike. Beautiful area. Camping is not allowed because it was trashed by fools in the past. Worth the hike.

Plan the trip before proceeding.

This is a wonderful trail for medium experience hikers and a nice challenge for those new to hiking.

This destination is one of the best in the Southeast. The falls provide two great spots for cliff jumping. Above the falls is nice smaller pool to jump into and then below the falls is a larger pool. You can take your choice of two trails to get there. Either use a 4 mile faster trail the winds around the mountainside to get there or use the 5 mile slower trail that crosses the river many, many times upstream to the falls. Many great campsites are located along through there. Every time I stay overnight on the Jacks River, I have seen bears. Its truly very wild country and a worthwhile destination.

The 22 river crossings provided a nice challenge and a chance to cool off from the July heat. We were able to find plenty of places for an eleven year old to cross without too much effort. We made the trip to the falls in about 4 hours.

The falls were great and we had them mostly to our selves.

Awesome trail, but very difficult. The trail takes you across the river 23 times to get to the falls. We didn't see too many people on the trail, but saw several snakes. This for sure in my top 3 of my favorite trails.
